Encik Bahrin Asmawi (President)

PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad

Introduction

The Malaysian Petrochemicals Association (MPA) was officially formed on March 19, 1997 and it is a formal association registered with the Registrar of Societies, Malaysia. MPA has 31 members engaged in the manufacture and trading of petrochemicals and plastic resins. As Malaysia was beginning to raise its profile as a significant player in the petrochemicals space, a growing need for a unified voice to represent both local and international investors emerged.

MPA's main roles are to promote the growth of the petrochemicals industry in Malaysia, advocate for the interests of its members and provide a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among industry players. Its roles are indeed evolving as industry and economic landscape changes, especially towards a more sustainable development. To this end, MPA is putting more effort into encouraging the adoption of new technologies and sustainable practices among its members and the players in the petrochemicals value chain.

We also act as a promoter of Responsible Care, connecting the industry in the country to global practices.
