Introduction
The Malaysian Oleochemical Manufacturers Group (MOMG) was formed in January 1984 to represent the interest of the oleochemical producers in Malaysia. It consists of 10 members all located in Peninsular Malaysia, who are involved in the production of basic oleochemicals namely fatty acids, methyl esters, fatty alcohols and glycerine. The industry comprises manufacturers made up of both local and several joint-venture companies with multinationals.
MOMG is a product group under the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM). The Group is also affiliated with the ASEAN Oleochemical Manufacturers Group (AOMG), which represents the oleochemical industry players in ASEAN.
MOMG members are also committed to conducting their business in a socially responsible manner that is safe to various parties that they deal with, i.e. through Responsible Care, a global initiative representing the chemical industry's commitment to continuous improvement of all aspects of safety, health, environmental and security protection of their operations.
Objectives
- To promote the interest of the Malaysian oleochemical industry by fostering communication within and outside the industry
- To liaise and co-operate with the Government of Malaysia on matters relating to oleochemicals, the development of the industry and the export of oleochemicals
- To engage and co-operate with any Association and stakeholders on common objectives / interest to facilitate the development of the oleochemical industry of Malaysia
- To collect, publish and disseminate information relating to the oleochemical industry and trade as a service to the members
